This is our first level course for carbine shootersFundamental Carbine covers proper the handling of a carbine, building a strong foundation with an emphasis on Marksmanship which will continue to evolve by attending our Intermediate Course offered the following day.  It is geared for those who have not had any formal instruction; however there is plenty to learn at all levels. Topics covered include safety, stance, zeroing for iron sights and optics, sight alignment and trigger control, use of slings, loading/reloading with bullet buttons. Familiarization with their carbine includes field stripping and maintenance. Other subject matter that is covered includes reloads, presentation, shooting positions, and introduction to different skill drills including dry fire and live fire shooting.

Class Requirements:

  • Serviceable Carbine – AR/AK/Mini-14 ect. Typical calibers are 9mm, 45 ACP, 30 cal, 5.56 mm, 7.62 x 39mm
  • Serviceable Sling- suitable for a variety of shooting positions –  Tactical Style capable of carrying rifle with muzzle down) 1 or 2 point preferred. 
  • Instruction Manual for Optics (or know your adjustments)
  • Minimum 1 magazine pouch – or method to carry spare magazine(s)
  • Minimum of 3 serviceable magazines (5 is better)
  • 250 rounds of ammo – service type
  • Hearing protection (electronic preferred)
  • Eye protection 
  • Base Ball Style Cap (recommended)
  • Personal Water Supply 
  • Weather Appropriate Gear (Rain gear / Cold Weather gear (seasonal) sun screen, etc.)
  • Clothing suited to strenuous activity as well as being seasonally appropriate (no shorts)
  • Knee and elbow pads (optional)
  • Gloves (optional)
  • An open mind

Rain or Shine the learning never stops, weather does not dictate the fight nor will it affect our training!  You are highly encouraged to bring weather appropriate clothing (no shorts or open toes shoes please).

Course Description:  Our Intermediate Carbine training course will take you beyond the fundamentals of the Carbine and introduce you to techniques that are critical when deploying the weapon for personal defense. It is designed to accomplish several objectives:

  • Review of the lifetime firearms safety rules
  • Further the discussion of the principles of personal defense, mental conditioning, and mindset to not just survive but to win a potentially lethal encounter
  • Review of the proper adjustment and use of your equipment to maximize its benefit to you 
  • Target identification and discrimination
  • Refine weapon presentation technique from the Low and High Ready position
  • Further develop the rapid and safe assumption of different positions in order to provide accurate fire on an identified threat
  • Emphasize the proper use of cover to maximize its benefit to you, from your strong and reactive side.
  • Ammunition management involving the use of Emergency and Tactical reloading techniques
  • Introduction to Multiple Threat engagement strategies
  • Several exercises designed to develop and strengthen your ability to apply the fundamentals of shooting rapidly and accurately in a changing environment
  • Skill Assessment / Rifle qualification exercise which will allow you to self diagnose strengths and identify areas for improvement w
  • hen training in the future on your own

  • Rifle Sling- suitable for a variety of shooting positions – Tactical Style capable of carrying rifle with muzzle down) 1 or 2 point preferred.

  • 350 rounds of ammo – service type
  • Hearing protection (electronic preferred)

Recommended Equipment: 
Rain Gear (seasonal), Sunscreen, Hydration System with Water.

*Rifle Sling must allow the rifle to hang freely in front of the shooter. We will not be slinging the rifles conventionally during this class. (Body armor is optional unless it is required by your agency during firearms training)

Rifle Equipment Specifications: Properly zeroed rifle / carbine. Red dot sights and holographic sights are allowed, however, all rifles / carbines should have back-up iron sights (BUIS) in the event your electronic sight goes down.
